The Matisse Inspired Still Life
“There are flowers everywhere for those who want to see them.” - Henri Matisse
This week in Room 12, students were involved in a painting based project inspired by the Still Life paintings of Henri Matisse. Students were invited to use oil pastels, watercolour paint and acrylic paint to create a still life composition. Students chose a blue-inked designed patterned vase to add an element of mixed-media to their painting.
Pattern and line are key features of the background and students enjoyed designing a colour scheme in watercolour paint. Combining the background, vase, plant and flowers was a rewarding process for students. We look forward to showcasing our completed art compositions at our Andrew Sibbald Volunteer Tea in June!
