Stop Motion Animation
For the last two sessions of MakerSpace, students in Room 12 have been engaged in Stop Motion Animation learning. Students thoroughly enjoyed working in their groups of three to create a short animated motion film. On Friday morning, students were proud and eager to share their stories with any available adults and peers. Next week in the classroom, we will have a Stop Motion Animation Sharing Party where students will showcase their short films with one another.
In order to be successful in completing their “Stop Motion Animation” films, students needed to create a short story that included: a main character, a setting, problem and a solution. Students used a story plan prior to acting out their stories with the support of Loose Parts. When students felt confident with their story plot and their Loose Parts representation, students used one iPad between them to take several photos of each frame or movement in their story. Then they used the “Stop Motion Animation” app to make it into a short film.
Students worked well together and were commended for being able to successfully work through problems and compromise. Mrs. Harris and myself were proud of all students for persevering when problems occurred and for demonstrating respect and empathy to one another when communicating their thoughts and ideas. Way to Go 3’s!
Please enjoy the photo gallery below which shows a combination of the pre-production stage, the recording stage and the reflection stage that all students went through the process of.
